G’day Shedders. Here’s the footy gate report and duty roster for our next home game against Bonnie Doon on Saturday, 4 July 2026.
Round 11 wrap
Round 11 turned out to be a good day for Bright, with both codes winning six out of seven games (sadly, King Valley was unable to field two teams). The Seniors recorded a convincing 108-point victory, while the Seconds collected the points by forfeit. On the ladder, Bright now sits second and sixth respectively on percentage.
A wet day at the gate
The weather was a shocker, with incessant rain and very low attendance — probably the worst I can remember. Our takings reflected the conditions, with $444.00 in cash and $1,042.00 via EFTPOS, for a total of $1,486.00 for the day.
Both shifts battled through despite there not being much work, although there was certainly plenty to talk about. We even managed to put on happy faces for some photos!

One punter came through the gate with an English accent and mentioned he was from Hertfordshire. He reckoned this sort of weather would be considered a good day back home — which certainly lifted spirits.
So, too, did the phenomenal food-scrounging efforts of our wonderful conversationalist, Philip. He managed to secure a mixture of hot dogs, pulled beef and homemade coleslaw rolls, plus hot chips. Well done, that man — you really lifted morale.
Many thanks to Simon, Bill, Alan, Philip, Ron and Glenn — well done, gentlemen.
A special send-off also to Ron and Jeanette, who are heading to warmer northern climes for an extended trip of around six weeks. Safe travels and enjoy your adventure.
